THE LIFE Cycle of deer

Have you ever watched Disney movie called Bambi when you were little? Do you have any recall of seeing Bambi as a baby just learning to get her balance, and then watching her learn how to become a deer on the journey? In fact, the movie accurately illustrates the life cycle of a deer in a warm way. The life cycle of a Bambi is truly one of the most incredible and thrilling things of nature, and it could be divided into three periods.

The first stage of deer is called the gestation period. The gestation period is about 10 months on average, into an actual deer. Just like us, a fawn or a baby deer experiences the same process as human beings, and they will go through the same gestation period. Its head and front legs will be facing the rear of the womb in preparation for birth at the end of the gestation period. The mother deer, or called doe, will choose a dense flora to give birth to baby in case of being killed by predator. Furthermore, the mother will lick the liquid that was on the fawn to disguise its scent once the fawn is born. Unlike human beings, the doe would push the fawn to his feet to learn how to stand and gain balance within about twenty minutes. After about a week, the fawn will join the herd and begin the journey of how to become a deer.

As time goes by, the deer steps to the next stage, the juvenile and adulthood. The buck will stay with its mother approximately for one year. When the fawn grows into a juvenile deer, the doe would break the mother-infant bonding by driving juvenile away prior to give birth to the next year’s fawn. In this period, the deer will grow the antlers in preparation for the final, also the most important phase.

The final stage of deer is called Reproduction. Reproduction is really a challenge for each buck. Before the babies come to the world, the male deer, also known as bucks, uses their antlers to wrestle with another male deer to contend for leadership. Only the strongest one could win the female mate. Sometimes they lose their antlers after a fierce battle and regrow their antlers each year. This mating season usually occurs in the summer months, and the female deer can only mate for two or three days.

The journey of deer is never-ending. However, since the baby came to the world, they are destined to live a life full of danger. Their life starts from the womb. After born into this world, they will go through the gestation, the adulthood and end up having a fierce competition to fight for mate. After all, their life cycle can be completed. In conclusion, the life cycle of deer provides a vivid example of the complexity of nature.
