I have truly become a moviegoer since the last time watching Nobody Knows. Nowadays, the movie industry keeps serving us different kinds of artworks each month, but in fact only the classic one could stand the challenge of time. I watched a classical teen comedy-drama film called The Breakfast Club recently. The storyline follows five teenagers as they spend their Saturday together in detention. These kids have nothing in common, and they have an irresistible desire not to have anything in common. The Breakfast Club vividly portrayed that the young generation goes through a period of adolescent angst and eager to find where they belong in society.

My favorite character in the movie is Allison Reynolds, the basket case. She was born in an unhealthy family and thus contributed to her personality defect. Everyone regards her as a weirdo except Andrew Clark, the athlete. He is the only person who sincerely listens to her and stands by her side. It does remind me of the importance of friendship. Life is a mixture of happiness and misery. Bad things always come one after another and indeed really tough to digest them at such short notice. It is friends that help us overcome the obstacles and go through such difficult period.

Additionally, I am impressed by the sentence “When you grow up, your heart dies.” In reality, many people embraced lofty dreams when they were in childhood. However, as time went by, they are afraid to be a dreamer due to either high pressure or mundane standpoints. Moreover, we don’t want to become snobbish and arrogant in the past, but inevitably turn out to be that type of person when we come of age. It’s such a pity that we lose true color and lack of courage to fulfill dreams after reaching adulthood.

Even now, many people are living under the parents’ expectations. They are required to behave like “normal” people since they were little. All they have to do is enrolling in a prestigious university and earning a high-paid job. It is no wonder that many film critics credited it as the top of teen-comedy movies because the film itself brilliantly depicts five characters' personalities and reflects the young generations’ anxiety toward the future and family. Although the movie premiered in 1985, it has a profound influence on the entire movie industry for decades.
